On Thursday and Friday of last week, we had the last two student choreography workshops of the year! Workshops are one of my favorite events at Juilliard because it is amazing to see the talent and risk-taking of my peers with their work.
In the Thursday performance, I performed in a piece I co-choreographed with my friend and classmate, Ethan Colangelo (our second collaboration this year). It was such an enjoyable creative process, and the performance was so rewarding!
One of the best parts of the night is that one of my biggest role models and mentors, an incredible artist and Juilliard alumnus, Cindy Salgado came to watch the performance!
On Friday, I sat in the audience, supported my peers, and just enjoyed the work that was put out there. It was refreshing and inspiring, and a great way to end the week!
For future Juilliard dance students, one of my biggest pieces of advice is to get involved in any or all workshops that occur throughout the year. Dancing and/or choreographing in one is always a learning experience and it is important to get as much performance experience as you can!
