"I Got In!"
After I was accepted to Juilliard, everyone wanted to hear the story. Where I was, how I felt, how exciting it was, etc. For the admissions process for voice, it felt like a three-part acceptance. First, I had to pass the prescreen to receive an audition. It was the second-to-last prescreen acceptance I had gotten (I had even done a few auditions already), so I was just relieved to hear back.
Waiting for the callback list was almost more stressful than waiting to hear about my acceptance. I was surrounded by other nervous auditionees and their parents, and we were all waiting to see our names on that short list.
I went around the corner and waited for what seemed like forever, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw my name at the bottom! When I turned the corner again I gave my mom a subtle thumbs up to contain my excitement.
After we returned to North Carolina, the waiting ensued. On March 31, I received an email around 2 pm that said my audition results would be on the application portal at 7 pm. I’ve never experienced a slower 5 hours in my life!
The weirdest part of the story was that my sister and I were watching Shrek the Musical on Netflix!
At last the fateful hour arrived, and I frantically logged in to my application and was met with this beautiful sight:
(That actually was the exact face I made)
My mom and I texted everyone we knew with the exciting news. After we had settled down, my sister and I looked at each other and said “….so do we finish Shrek the Musical?”
I wish the absolute best of luck to everyone who auditioned!!
