During the Spring semester at Juilliard, the Dance Department presents “Juilliard Dances Repertory”. We are currently in the middle of our rehearsals for the performances.
There are three different pieces in this year’s program.
All of the pieces were premiered over 30 years ago.
The style of these works is very different from the current style of contemporary dance that is typical these days.
Our three pieces this year are:
Paul Taylor’s Roses (1985)
Jerome Robbins Moves (1959)
Jiří Kylián’s Symphony of Psalms (1978)
We have rehearsal Monday through Friday 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This spring concert is a unique opportunity for divisions within Juilliard to perform together. While Moves is done in complete silence, the Juilliard Orchestra performs live for both Symphony of Psalms and Roses.
Now that’s what we call teamwork.
