Tips for Your Juilliard Audition
These aren’t tips specific to your Juilliard audition, I think these things could apply to any audition, as well as any situation in your musical life! I think it is always important to get other people’s constructive criticism on your playing, to be healthy, and to realize that every audition you take is part of a process and it is not life defining.
1. Be comfortable with your repertoire: play repertoire that you enjoy practicing and performing, and play this repertoire for as many people as you can; organize mock auditions.
2. Stay healthy: making an effort to stay physically healthy will help keep you mentally healthy as you may begin to feel stressed as your audition approaches.
3. Get rid of expectations: realize that the outcome of one audition will not affect your future successes in life, and it will not determine your worth as a person.
