What do Juilliard students do on weekends?!
So it’s Friday. 5:55 pm.
5 minutes left in class.
5 minutes until temporary freedom.
5 minutes until you’re released into the loving arms of the weekend.
I always get asked/told:
“Jeff, what do you Juilliard kids even do on weekends?”
“I bet it’s just a myth. Y’all don’t actually have weekends for yourself…?”
“Do Juilliard kids know how to PARTY?!”
“Are the Juilliard parties even LIT?!”
“Y’all just practice all day, EVERY day.” (notice, not a question…)
Well, clearly to some, the idea of the “Juilliard Party” sounds like an oxymoron, but I’ve been to some amazing Juilliard parties at friends’ apartments. The best parties are at the beginning and end of the school year and before and after breaks.
TRUST ME. IT’S LIT.
Instead of partying, or maybe the whole day before that night, one might spend the weekend practicing (how do you think we get to Juilliard :P), doing homework, just getting organized for the upcoming week, or all of the above!
NO DAYS OFF!!!
This just goes to show you that you can be a Juilliard student and still have a life! You just have to stay on top of your workload and organize yourself accordingly!
