What Juilliard Means to Me (as told by Snapchat)
I didn’t realize there would be so many windows.
When I decided to apply to Juilliard, I couldn’t help but let the stereotypes get to me. I pictured some bastion of tradition and exclusivity that was—in my imagination—windowless. Cut off from the outside world. It turns out that I couldn’t have been more wrong: an entire face of the building is glass, with floor to ceiling windows allowing the outside world to get a glimpse of what we do.
As an avid Snapchatter who appreciates the wonders that natural light does for photos, I found myself sending a lot of sun-streaked snaps to my friends near these massive glass panels of glass. Apart from providing great lighting, I actually think the windows at Juilliard are important in other ways and really define what this incredible place means to me. And what better way to explain than a Snapchat Story?
Whoever said that music is a window to the soul might have been onto something.
