Philpower

Philpower

Now that we’re well into October and settled into a routine for the semester, it’s easy for that ironclad willpower that drives us musicians to practice hours each day to begin to wear off. Fortunately, I have found a solution!

philpower (‘filpouər) n. extreme feelings of motivation that arise from attending a New York Philharmonic concert, especially on nights when you thought you had no desire to practice anymore, but upon hearing some of the most moving, heartfelt Brahms crafted by the hands of Emanuel Ax, you can’t help but feel utterly inspired to go directly from the concert hall to a practice room and attempt to create something half as beautiful as what you just witnessed.

Needless to say, it was an incredible performance.
