Racing to the Finish
With the end finally in sight, it’s getting harder and harder to stay motivated until the finish! The Boston Marathon occurred a few days ago, so I’ve been seeing the world through a runner’s-eye view. If you didn’t keep track of it, this year’s race had some of the worst weather yet--pouring rain, 50 MPH gusts, and freezing weather. I’m inspired by how many runners braved the elements and successfully conquered the marathon, even in some of the most difficult conditions! It’s served as a good reminder to keep going, even when our schedules get so busy that it feels like a marathon to even get through one day. The finish line is so close!
Some days I’m lucky if I even have a lunch break, but with the weather finally starting to warm up, I’m trying to find more ways to go out on the rare days where I have more than twenty seconds of free time! Since juries and finals are coming up, there’s not a whole lot of time to waste, but I’m still working to find the perfect balance between work and play. I’m not the kind of person who can veg out to Netflix for hours on end when I know I have a massive pile of work to be doing (I save the binge-watching for the summertime), so I try to have hobbies that still make me feel like I’m getting stuff done. Running and making videos are my favorites because they give my brain a break but still help me feel great about setting and meeting goals. If I really do need that Netflix break, I try to fold laundry or clean my room at the same time. (And I have many friends who admit to watching their favorite shows while they warm up, but let’s say that’s only for emergencies.)
There are only a few weeks to go! From those preparing to join the whirlwind lifestyle of a Juilliard student to those preparing to leave it (and everyone in between), we’re in the home stretch!
