Year in Review
This year has been absolutely amazing. I cannot express how grateful I am to have been able to study at this amazing school for the past two years. When I decided to come to Juilliard, my entire life flipped upside-down and I don't regret a single second of it. This past year has been absolutely crazy. Let's review:
September: After the amazing summer in which I performed my very first opera role, I came back to Juilliard for my second year on September 2nd. I began classes shortly after and auditioned for placement in the operas at Juilliard. My audition was a lot of fun and I ended up being cast in the chorus for the Opera 'The Merry Wives of Windsor'.
October: During this month, I was in classes, taking lessons and working like crazy. A lot of my focus was on Gluck performances and advancing my public speaking. It was quite a beautiful experience to bring stunning music to audiences that wouldn't normally have the opportunity to experience it.
November and December: In November, I performed in the International Festival at Juilliard, saw a few shows at Carnegie Hall and The Met, and towards the end of November, I began my rehearsals for 'The Merry Wives of Windsor'. In December, I was continuing rehearsals, preparing for my chamber music concert, and performing in classical Improv concerts with wonderful colleagues.
January: New Year New ME!! Just kidding ;). This month I was in staging rehearsals for the Opera, was collaborating more with other artists in various disciplines, and I was learning lots of new repertoire.
February and March: During these months, I performed in the opera and in second year Songbook. I also performed the first three shows of opera comp.
April: In April, I auditioned for the undergrad opera and was cast as Juno in Offenbach’s Orpheus in the Underworld.
May: In May, I had my Jury, my final exams and my final Chamber performance. After all this, I finally started on my packing!
Overall, this year has been so amazing and I feel that I have grown so much as an artist and person. I am really looking forward to next year and can't wait to see what comes next!
