I think snow days are like a gift from heaven and the universe that give energy, spirit, confidence, and sanity back to my life. I am pretty sure that I speak for a lot of other students when I say that snow days literally save my life.
Last week, when we had the golden gift of a white and snowy snow day, I was able to get all of my work done, study for my upcoming tests, get week extensions on assignments that were originally due the next day, and ultimately restore my sanity and faith in humanity. I am not kidding you when I say we get a lot of homework as vocalists at Juilliard because we have SO MANY CLASSES! While I love having a busy schedule and am really excited to learn, sometimes, the assignments and material can really pile up on you to the point of no return. This snow day allowed me to save my life and finish all of the work I had fallen behind on.
In addition to being a wonderful time to catch up to your life, a snow day is also a day that allows for higher energy and lifted spirits due to indoor heaters, hot chocolate, sleeping in, and looking out into a winter wonderland. There is nothing like looking out of the window and seeing New York city completely COVERED in white powdery snow.
All in all, having a snow day, from my own perspective, is a wonderful and necessary thing. The best part I think is getting that text/email from the school department because of the wave of relief that comes over me when I know I have some extra time. It's like waking up before your alarm and knowing that you have more time to rest and enjoy your bed. Hopefully some of you agree with me.
Thank you so much for reading!!
Till next time,
