Since coming to Juilliard, I’ve found that my goals and my priorities are constantly evolving. While I have my long-term goals, it’s been important for me to realize that the little steps I take along the way are crucial to achieving the “big” stuff. By breaking my dreams down into simpler, easier to accomplish steps, I’m able to keep myself motivated and constantly striving for improvement. This year, I’m keeping my short-term goals extra simple, and instead of directly music-related ones, I’m focusing on simple ways to better my lifestyle:
1. Answer emails more quickly. Nothing stresses me out faster than a cluttered inbox! This applies to texts...and social media notifications, too.
2. Take more pictures. I realize I don’t take enough photos, and I’ll want to remember the good (aka non-stressful) parts of this semester.
3. Get enough sleep. We could all use it! I find that I’m more productive and just happier overall when I’m well-rested.
4. Appreciate every moment! Life is stressful, but it passes by all too quickly, so I’m trying to stay grateful every day. After all, 2017 felt like it lasted only a minute!
