Is it September already
Is it September already?! It feels like summer ended the second classes started, and we’ve already been plunged into an ocean of homework and rehearsals. To stay afloat, I’ve been prioritizing exploring the city whenever I can before it starts getting cold. Although the workload for our classes is already piling up, even spending five minutes in Lincoln Center between classes sometimes brings me the pick-me-up I need to get through the day. I was also able to catch the last few days of the Metropolitan Opera’s Summer HD Festival, public screenings of Met performances.
At this time last year, I was just starting to figure out life in New York City and at Juilliard, so it’s nice now to have an understanding of how things work. Many of my classes are continuations of previous courses, and some of my teachers are still the same, so the all-too-familiar trek to each of my classrooms already feels like a second nature again. The workload is still intense and rehearsals are already in full swing, so I have to be constantly mindful of making every minute count!
The hardest part of readjusting to school life is accepting that summer is over--now it’s time to really work! This year is already proving to be a busy but informative one, and I’m looking forward to seeing what new opportunities and experiences are in store.
