First Week

First Week

First Week! Highs, lows, in-betweens.

Well, week one of my second year here at Juilliard has passed and what can I say? IT'S STILL AWESOME!! It has been so great to finally come back to New York, make new friends, meet my new teachers for the semester, and to be reunited with friends.

Classes have begun and of course that means my stress levels are at an all time high. Seriously, I feel like this meme:

Despite this, school could not be better! Being a second year, I have learned a lot about what it takes to succeed and to learn the most that I possibly can while being here. The one thing I learned that is super important at Juilliard is having time management skills. DO NOT FEAR!! If you feel like time management is not something you can achieve, I am here to tell you it is! There are ultimately 3 time management tips I wish I knew as a freshman.

1) Scheduling EVERYTHING on a calendar on your phone with notifications helps to make sure that you don't miss simple things like dinner or meetings.

2) A to-do list is a must have to make sure that all the little tasks that you need to do get done! (An app I would recommend is called Wunderlist which allows you to create tasks quickly, star them for importance, and check them off easily.)

3) Finally, getting parts of assignments done ahead of time will be super beneficial in the long run. All of the assignments I struggled with in my first year were those that I didn't get a head start on. As soon as you receive an assignment, begin planning in order to get everything done.

The one thing I do miss is my family back home. It was lovely to spend some time with them this summer, but now it's back to the Juilliard grind and back to committing 100% to my craft. It's not all bad though because the inspiration of being at this school and being surrounded with the most talented people in the world is completely astonishing.

Till Next Time!
