Summertime, Here We Come!
I can’t believe that this is the last week of my sophomore year of college…this semester has been filled with so many moments of growth, challenge, inspiration, introspection and memories, and it definitely has flown by!
We are in our last week of classes now, and I’m making sure to really enjoy every second in the studios with my classmates before we are parted for a couple of months. They really have become my family, so summer really feels bittersweet knowing I won’t see all of them until we come back for the Fall Semester.
Something I am very much looking forward to about this summer is taking the lessons I’ve learned this year with me into the summer months and into my summer training. One of the best things about summer break is that it gives you the time to really dig deep and focus on the ideas and skills you want to explore and understand. That way, you can come back to the new school year with a deeper understanding of your craft and your body as a dancer. It gives you the time to really reflect on all the information that has been given to you by your teachers, and figure out what best fits you and helps you grow.
I am also very excited to be traveling a bit, and dancing at some new programs. I selected all of them based on my current and future goals, both technically and professionally, and I can’t wait to take class from so many knowledgeable, experienced, connected and extremely talented individuals. I can’t wait to spend all day dancing, challenging myself, learning about my artistic voice, and connecting with new (and old) friends!
The most important thing to remember going into the summer months and your summer adventures is to take the time to really enjoy everyday whilst working to better yourself and your craft. I’m going to keep the intensity and focus of school and bring it with me, putting it into my work ethic, but also add a sprinkle of levity and a little adventure! I’m so excited to see what this summer has in store for me, and I hope yours is full of family, fun, excitement, relaxation, and growth.
