What time is it? (Summertime!)
As April comes to a close Juilliard students are looking forward to summer vacation! Summer is great for taking some much needed rest, spending time with family, and (of course) getting some extra practicing in! Here is a list of the things I’m most excited about this summer!
1. FAMILY TIME/HOME
I love being at Juilliard – coming here was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made – but I am very much looking forward to being home for a while! I have a great relationship with my family, so I can’t wait to spend some time with them! Some of my family was able to come to town for the First-year Songbook in early April, but that feels like it was years ago (even though it was less than a month ago). I can’t wait to see my high school friends, old teachers, and family when I go home!
2. SUMMER JOB
This summer I have the opportunity to work as a lifeguard and I couldn’t be more exited! I’ve never been a lifeguard before but I’m a good swimmer so I’m excited to spend some time doing that this summer. Some of my high school friends will also be working with me so it will be great to reconnect with them there!
I’ll be Italy for three and a half weeks this summer at Classic Lyric Arts, a summer program that will focus on Italian language and Italian repertoire. I’m very much looking forward to being in Europe as it will be my first time. I am also looking forward to be in country and to experience it with some of my Juilliard friends who are also going! This is probably what I’m most looking forward to this summer!
4. LEO’S CONEY ISLAND
I’ve mentioned this in previous blogs, but it’s so important that I’ll mention it again – Leo’s Coney Island is my favorite place on earth. I’m excited to be able to spend some times at my favorite restaurant! One of the nicest things about going home is cheap food! New York has a lot of expensive restaurants, so I’m looking forward to being able to afford things again!
Here’s to a great summer and an even better end of semester!
