As the arrival of summer draws near, I thought that I might share with you all some of my plans for the upcoming months! I made it a goal this summer to really try to balance work and play, and with any luck I think I’ll be successful. I started off my summer planning with the understanding that I was not so interested in just doing another summer intensive. As of this year I will have attended seven different summer intensives in my lifetime, and for now that has proved to be plenty enough. So instead I thought that I would work to pursue my interests in choreography and teaching this summer, and so far things are looking pretty good in terms of fulfilling that goal!
But first for a bit of fun. After I leave the NYC I’ll be heading to a mountain retreat in upstate NY, just to take a few days to enjoy the summer breeze and the mountains. Afterwards I’ll be heading out to the Cayman Islands for a week, and then flying directly to St. Augustine, FL, for another week. It’ll be my first time in both of these places, so I’m excited to see what they have to offer! After that I’ll be spending some much needed time at home, and catching up with all of the family pets. (This includes a horse, 4 emus, cat, dog, guinea pig, rabbit, gecko, and hedgehog.) After this quick rest I’ll be sent packing off to South Korea for a few days just to explore and discover! From there I’ll be flying directly to Shanghai, where I’ll be spending three weeks performing, choreographing, and teaching.
Funnily enough, it’ll actually be my second time in Shanghai, as I was there in 2010 for the World Expo. (An experience I’ll never forget.) I was absolutely enchanted with the city when I was there in 2010, so I’m excited to be back there working and doing what I love! Afterwards I’ll be flying back to the US to meet up with an old friend of mine and take a quick road trip around the East Coast. After this I’ll be off to Latvia, where I’ll be teaching again for about a week. I’ll also be visiting with my grandmother who still lives there in the country, so it will be wonderful to see her again. Afterwards we might be visiting the country of Georgia, but that plan isn’t finalized yet, so I’ll just have to wait and see!
Overall it’s bound to be a jam packed summer filled with new discoveries and exciting adventures. There’s no doubt that afterwards there’ll be plenty of stories to tell when it’s all said and done! Thanks for reading and be sure to check back next week for my last blog post of the year!
