Where my art has taken me?

Where my art has taken me?

Where has art taken you? Since this blog post is open for interpretation, I thought I would talk about some of the cool places I’ve gotten to travel to because of my art. Below are some of the coolest experiences I’ve had because of my art!

WHERE HAS ARE TAKEN ME?

Washington D.C.

I got to travel to Washington D.C. in the summer of 2015 to attend the Washington National Opera Institute. Here I performed at the Kennedy Center and attended classes. We were housed at American University. (If you look closely, here is a picture taken after our final performance. Renee Fleming (center) was attending a performance at the Kennedy Center. I am in the back row directly behind here. Fellow WNOI alum and current Juilliard Classmate, Aleea is to Ms. Fleming’s left. Aleea and I met at this program (along with classmate Jaylyn).

Miami, Florida

In January 2015, I traveled to Miami for National YoungArts Week, a weeklong intensive that allows to you work with and learn from amazing master teachers. This was an invaluable experience and helped give the confidence to apply to Juilliard! I met one of my closest friends (and current Juilliard classmate), Lydia, at YoungArts

New York City, New York

NYC! Before moving in at Juilliard, I visited New York City three times for sample voice lessons, school tours, and my audition in March. I am so lucky to be having the experience of a lifetime at this incredible school.

note: It is not entirely necessary to make several trips to NYC. I wanted to get a feel for the school/faculty before committing here. Making three trips to New York City does not guarantee acceptance. I wish it did… but it doesn’t :)

UPCOMING:

Bologna, Italy

I will be going to Bologna this summer for a three-and-a-half-week summer program! Updates to come!
