So you have a Juilliard audition coming up, eh?
Well, if you had prescreening to pass, then congratulations! Since you made it through, then you're definitely on the right track.
Here are a few things to keep in mind before, during and after your audition:
I swear, this is the biggest thing for me. You don't even have to be a wind player to adhere to this tip! ;) Nerves are natural. But just relax, no one is going to get hurt, the Earth will keep spinning!
2. MAINTAIN PERSPECTIVE.
You're auditioning live for Juilliard. You're here, NOW. Most people don't get to say that, ya know. Bask in that and be proud.
3. AUDITION, AND GIVE YOUR VERY BEST. MAKE ART.
Think of this as just another chance to give your all. Focus on making art that speaks to YOU (and the audition panel). You've come too far to NOT give your all and do your best. Exude excellence and confidence.
4. REMEMBER THAT YOU'RE LOVED.
It's easy to let this audition (and audition season in general) consume you, but keep in mind that you have family and/or friends who love you and want the best for you. Do your best for them (and yourself). And if it doesn't go the way you hoped it would, know that you can always lean back on them for love and support.
GOOD LUCK ON YOUR AUDITION! :D
