Snow Day!

Snow Day!

Last Thursday, February 9, our “Van Itallie Project” Showing got cancelled due to heavy snow. I decided to stay in my apartment the whole day even when it stopped snowing in the evening.

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

1)      Twelfth Night

I’m currently on the lookout for classical monologues in preparation for our BADA (British American Drama Academy) auditions in March. Since I want to get a head start on this I used this unexpected free day to read Twelfth Night to see if I can find any monologues that strike me.

2)      House of Cards

I’m now on Season 3 in my House of Cards marathon! One of the things I get a kick out of in this series is seeing some of our alumnae in the show whether in the title role (Kevin Spacey, Group 12) and in cameo roles. I also enjoy googling some of the actors’ names to discover who went to drama school or not. Sometimes I can tell through their speech work ;-)

3)      Journaling

I’ve been journaling a lot these days. This quarter of the school year is a really wonky quarter due to Juilliard Drama auditions for incoming freshmen and the occasional snow storm. This also means a lot more free time than usual. I have and still am spending a lot of time reflecting upon my process and approach to the work and how I can use my time more effectively to work on things that I truly need to work on rather than merely being obedient to what I think my teachers expect me to do.

4)      Sleep! ‘Nuff said.
