Mid-Semester Check Up
Hey y’all and happy November! It has been SUCH a busy semester. When people say that year 2 is the craziest they’re not kidding. Thankfully, it’s a good busy. I love my classes and I definitely feel like I’m maturing vocally, plus I’m doing a lot better in Ear Training, which of course feels like the greatest accomplishment of my life thus far.
In terms of what we’re doing class wise, we just took midterms, so last week was pretty cray. Lots of studying and essays!
Now that midterms are over we’re powering through until Thanksgiving! We just started British repertoire in English diction, so we get to roll our R’s a lot more.
We’ve been waltzing in movement the last few weeks which I LOVE. I’ve always felt like more of a partner dancer than a solo dancer, and since I’m a mezzo and we’re short on boys in our class I get to lead pretty often (pants roles!)
In other exciting news, all 9 of us got cast in Vocal Arts Showcases! I’ll be in Showcase #1 on December 9, and I’ll be singing the Cherubino arias from Le Nozze di Figaro (Non so piu and Voi che sapete) which I’m very excited about because I’ve been singing them for years, so it’ll be interesting to see what will be different about them this time around.
I’ve been thoroughly enjoying this semester thus far as well as the chill coming in the air :-) I’m super excited to see what the next few weeks bring, and then onto turkey!!!
I will leave you all with this gem of a photo that I took in acting last week:
