What was the biggest shock about moving to New York?
The biggest shock would be realizing how many different types of people lived in NY- I have never heard so many languages being spoken at once in passing through one block!

What do you do in your free time?
Sometimes i just sit and read a book, or I like to go running outside! Not to mention, when I get on the computer and start watching a show...you lost me for a few hours.

What advice would you give to incoming college freshmen?
Make friends from different divisions and don't stick with your little clique! I was lucky to have dancers, actors, and jazz friends in my suite and my floor, and they are still my closest friends. They get me thinking about life in a different way and it's so exciting. Also, I get to hear about what their life is like and I can separate myself from the day that I had earlier. It's such a breath of fresh air to not talk about violin when I get back from my classes and rehearsals. My friends from Freshman year are still my best friends today. They've seen me at my worst and my best, and have been there for me and helped me grow.

Fun fact about yourself?
I really don't like meerkats. As in, I can't even look at a picture of one without freaking out.

Favorite place to eat in New York?
Hakata Tonton (It's a tiny little japanese restaurant in the West Village)! What do you order? I basically order everything off that menu. My favorite thing is their Hakata Hot Pot and their amazing tonsoku dish!

What inspires you and what keeps you motivated?
Life inspires me. I know this may sound super cheesy, but I really do believe that all the ups and downs that I've gone through (and I know everyone goes through them) has added to my art and me as a person in tremendous ways. I love the freedom I have in New York and that I can express myself in a different way however I feel in the moment. I'm a classical violinist, but knowing that I can experiment with all different types of arts and music and styles keeps me motivated!-- Just that many more things to explore and make it my own.
