A Challenging Adjustment
Coming back to Juilliard after break has almost been more difficult than coming to Juilliard for the first time. Just in this first week I have played in rehearsals for three different orchestra cycles, started organizing rehearsals for the three chamber groups I am in, started entirely new classes, and continued preparing for summer festival auditions.
This is a similar week to most other Juilliard Music students! A couple people I’ve talked to have said that this week has been their busiest week at Juilliard so far this year. There was certainly no time to adjust after coming back from a very relaxing time at home. Over break it seemed like coming back would be so refreshing, but I was definitely a little overwhelmed!
This semester is definitely going to be much busier than last for everyone, but also more exciting because people will start hearing back from masters programs and summer festivals!
I got to spend most of my break with my grandparents in the beautiful San Juan Islands; here are some of the adjustments I had to make coming back to school.

I started reading On Playing the Flute by Quantz and I highly recommend it!
