New Dances 2014

New Dances 2014

And that’s a wrap! With our fifth and final performance on Sunday, we closed New Dances 2014. New Dances is a show that the dance department puts on every December with four world premieres by four current choreographers. We have been in rehearsals for the show since October, and the time has simply flown by. I don’t know how we are already at the end of the first semester. New Dances was a fantastic note to end the semester on.

First Years

The first years worked with Austin McCormick, a Juilliard grad, in a piece entitled “La Folia”. Check out some of Austin’s other choreography:

Second Years

The second years worked with Loni Landon, also a graduate of Juilliard in a piece entitled “and then there was one.”  Loni’s choreography:

Third Years

The third year dancers created a new piece with Kate Weare called “Night Light”. Kate’s choreography:

Fourth Years

The fourth years worked with Larry Keigwin, of Keigwin + Company and danced the piece “Exit Like an Animal”. Larry’s choreography:

Also, an incredible artist by the name of Peter Buotte came to see the show, and did these amazing sketches of the dancers, all while sitting in the dark theater! I was completely blown away.

Here is the sketch he did of me.

Congratulations to the entire Juilliard Dance Department!
