REEDING

REEDING

Congratulations! You did it!

In the midst of the application frenzy, it was so nice to have a couple of days off to catch up on projects before the final stretch of the semester begins. I spent most of my break making bassoon reeds. I was running low on blanks (reeds that are ready for scraping) and that is not a very good thing before approaching a big performance. Reed making is one of the best hobbies one can have. It requires concentration, allows you to experiment, you get to be creative and artistic (colorful wrapping!), and it protects you of EVER running out of topics to talk about with a fellow double reed players.

Here is a short video I shot over the weekend, a tribute to reed making and a glimpse into the life of a bassoon player. Enjoy!
