Collaboration Between Divisions: ChoreoComp
As a dancer at Juilliard, we perform in a variety of different performances. One of the most exciting performances we get to be a part of is called ChoreoComp. ChoreoComp is a show in which 6 of the third-year dance majors and 6 of the composers collaborate and make a new work together.
The composer writes a new piece of music.
The choreographer sets a new dance.
The second-year dancers perform the movement.
Musicians from all years perform the music.
...and it’s a grand old time.
It is a very unique opportunity at Juilliard where we are able to collaborate with the other divisions. We are so focused in our own division most of the time, so it is very nice to be able to work closely with the peers that you have seen around school for the past year.
We performed Choreo Comp this past Friday and Saturday to a sold-out crowd each time! Here are some behind the scenes photos from our performances.
We watched the musicians and dancers nail it on the TV in the backstage waiting room.
Till next time.
