Top 5 Juilliard Challenges (with solutions)

There's no denying Juilliard has it challenges. Conservatory style training in Dance, Drama or Music is certainly a commitment. But with a positive attitude, effective time management, and a sturdy work ethic  it's easy to meet them!

5. New York City
New York is a city with a unique pulse and radically diverse population. It can be expensive and overwhelming because it's true, the city never sleeps. But the new student orientation gives everyone an opportunity to adjust and provides helpful sessions with tips and tricks to moving about the city. And as a student there are thousands of perks like discounted tickets at most theaters, access to millions of resources like the New York Public Library System, and thousands of other students going through it with you from surrounding schools.

4. The Population
Juilliard is a small school in a big city. With about 800 students it's easy to feel like you see the same faces over and over again. However, people build close sincere friendships within our community. The smaller number also allows for artistic collaborative opportunities. And of course more individual attention in classes.

3. Performance and Tickets
There are over 700 performances that happen in the Juilliard Community over the year. Which give you several opportunity to showcase your work to fellow classmates, teachers, family, and the public. From Alice Tully Hall to small rehearsal studios there's never a where someone isn't rehearsing for a show. Some of these programs due to smaller spaces or  popularity become limited or even sell out. And sometimes performance opportunities are limited in your first few years here. But getting tickets early, asking friends for comps, and getting tickets online with the new system makes seeing shows here easier.

2. The Schedule
Going here you spend countless hours practicing, rehearsing, in class, in performance, and seeing performances. The schedule is daunting, but manageable with a good planner and a will to work.

1. The Training
Conservatory Style training is difficult, and there’s really no way around that. But with passion and a desire to learn, the school will help you accomplish all our yout artist goals and dreams.
